Sickness ER Visit

One morning Asher walked out of his room and exclaimed, "I'm happy Mommy!", which is pleasant for any parent to hear. However after breakfast, literally the moment his feet hit the floor he started shaking uncontrollably, spiked a fever, looked around wildly as if horribly confused, and his heart started racing. Rob quickly gave Asher a blessing and laid down with our poor boy in bed (Rob himself was ill).
I took him to the emergency room (Rob would have, but again, he was sick) since he was increasingly lethargic and feverish. They prescribed some medicine and sent him home. He barely talked the entire time, something very unusual for him and as soon as we were home he went to sleep again.

He seemed no better when he awoke up hours later and by this point I was more concerned because I had done more research while he was asleep and many symptoms pointed to meningitis. Coupled with that fact was the remembrance that we had found a red tick in his bath water a few days before and red ticks can transmit meningitis. So that evening I took him to the emergency room where they could do blood work.

There I found out that the test for meningitis was a 4 to 8 hours procedure involving a spinal tap, a pretty serious thing, especially for a 2 year old. They didn't think meningitis was the culprit and did a simple throat culture and took his vitals and ended up sending us home... 4 1/2 hours later, at 10:30 at night. He was incredibly tired.

Several blessings occurred during our ER visit. Within a couple of hours our Relief Society president, Patricia, showed up to make sure I was okay and sit with us for awhile. Another friend, Janna, came at 10 o'clock to also make sure I was okay. Also, another friend, Shauna, sent her husband to buy formula for Rob, who was caring for Jacqueline at home. Since I'm breastfeeding I didn't have any formula in the house and hadn't thought I'd need it since I thought the ER visit would be shorter in length. I hadn't even mentioned to anyone that we were going and some how they all found out and decided to act. Thanks to all!

Over the next 5 day Asher slowly improved and became his energetic self. Several of his friends showed some of his symptoms around the same time period so it must have been a virus of some sort, that just happened to hit Asher worse. We are just glad he's better now.
