Thanksgiving in Ohio - Asher's First Long Trip

Before our trip to Ohio we prayed that Asher would travel well so that we, and he, would not be miserable. Our prayers were answered and he slept for 9 out of the 12 hours it took to get there. The three hours he was awake consisted of eating, diaper changes and stretch/play time. We discovered that the front seat folds down and makes the perfect changing table, a huge blessing.

Thanksgiving day my mother and father in-law, brother and sister in-law Jeff and Allie and their two beautiful daughters joined in the festivities. Jeff and Allie traveled all the way from North Carolina to join us and participate in Asher's baby blessing. Because my in-laws joined us we were able to enjoy traditional dishes from both families, which I loved! It's amazing to see how fast two of my nieces, Abby and Molly, are growing up. It seems like yesterday they were infants and now they are walking. I hope Asher does not change that fast!

After the Thanksgiving meal we were able to enjoy the real highlight of the day, Wilkerson Pie Fest! Because my in-laws joined us we had more pies than usual, not that anyone minded. How many pies can you count? I count 14.

Playing with our neice Emma brought out Rob's creative side

While Rob was playing with Emma creating a ship (above), Asher and I relaxed
Asher slept in the same room with us while at my parents which was a new experience for us, he had been sleeping in his own room since coming home from the hospital. Rob, a light sleeper, had a difficult time with the baby noises. It took some adjustment for me as well, but once I was used to it I sure loved the convenience for feeding purposes. Maybe I can convince Rob to let me keep the next baby in our room....(Rob says he would rather sleep on the couch).

We had a great time and loved spending so much time with family. Since this is a Thanksgiving post, I will just say that I am soooo grateful to have such a wonderful and loving husband, cute and calm baby (most of the time), and great family. I am also grateful for the restored Church of Jesus Christ that allows us to be an eternal family.
