Day 16 - Tuesday

Off to another castle today, yeah! Haut-Koenigsbourg is Dad Hinman's favorite castle, probably because it is not a "pretty" castle like Chillon and is a lot bigger and more impressive looking.

Here it is from a distance: The tree hollow kept the wind from getting to me, as it was a very cold day.

There were many drawbridges, this place was fortified!
Rob's favorite, the weapon room:

It's a good thing we didn't stay here too long, standing up here you felt like everyone in the valley below should be your slaves and bring you lots of delicious things to eat.

WATCH OUT!

After visiting the castle we wandered around (in the car) the countryside for awhile and ended up stumbling upon this old village. How old?...It is still surrounded by a stone wall with front and back entrances.

By this time we were starving (okay, maybe not starving, but definetly hungry) and found a restaurant in town that served dinner early (6:00pm). The portions were huge, especially stews! Dad and Rob's stews would have easily served 3 people. Dinner was delicious.
