Day 12 - Friday

Well, since it is New Year's day not a whole lot is open today. I am feeling a bit home-sick so I am glad we are heading back to Mom and Dad Hinman's apartment tomorrow. We did go and visit the Notre Dame cathedral and see it's beautiful stained glass. Since it was cloudy again we didn't get the full effect, but we enjoyed seeing it anyways.
A bird man that didn't like birds and was cheap. He would go to the trash and pull food out to feed to the birds, even though his whole backpack is full of seed. When birds would try to get into his pack he would brusquely push them away.

Interesting story behind the row of saint's heads. During one of the many revolutions the people thought that the saints looked too much like kings and lobbed off their heads. A teacher collected the heads and buried them in his backyard for safekeeping. Someone found the heads a number of years ago and the heads are now in a museum since replacements had already been made.

After a quick (very quick) tour through Notre Dame we decided to walk around for a little while but soon decided we wanted to get back to the hotel as it was extremely cold out, had seen the sights we wanted to see, and wanted to prepare for our return journey tomorrow. Oh, we also considered a few paintings to purchase but ended up deciding not to buy any since most of them were pretty generic.
